Who is responsible

The data controller is Laurentiu Zarioiu, Badenerstrasse 101, Zürich, Switzerland. For privacy questions or requests, contact hello@laurentiuzarioiu.com.

What information is processed

When you visit the site, technical information needed to deliver and secure the website may be processed, such as IP address, browser and device information, requested pages, timestamps and similar server-log data.

If you subscribe to New Thoughts, I process your email address, subscription status and information needed to document the double opt-in process. If you contact me, I process the information you choose to provide so I can respond.

Why information is processed

Personal data is used to operate and secure the website, respond to enquiries, provide requested private-work information, deliver the newsletter, maintain subscription records and comply with legal obligations.

Where the EU or UK GDPR applies, the relevant legal bases may include your consent, steps taken at your request before entering into a contract, compliance with legal obligations, and legitimate interests in operating and securing the website and communicating with you.

Newsletter and MailerLite

The newsletter is provided through MailerLite. Subscription uses double opt-in: after entering your email address, you must confirm the subscription through a confirmation email. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link included in every newsletter.

Open tracking for the welcome email has been disabled. I do not use the newsletter to build behavioural profiles from email opens.

Website hosting and service providers

This website is built and hosted with Webflow. Webflow and its subprocessors may process technical data required to host, deliver and secure the site. Webflow is based in the United States and provides contractual and other transfer safeguards for data subject to European and Swiss data-protection rules.

MailerLite processes subscriber data on my behalf. Its data-processing terms include safeguards for international transfers, including mechanisms intended to cover Swiss and European data-protection requirements.

Cookies and similar technologies

I have not enabled Google Analytics, Meta Pixel or comparable advertising-tracking tools on this site. The MailerLite subscription form may use operational cookies or local-storage entries needed for form and subscription functionality, including identifiers such as mailerlite:session_id and mailerlite:forms:submitted:[ID].

Because the current site does not use non-essential advertising or behavioural analytics cookies, there is no marketing-cookie consent banner at this time. If non-essential tracking is added later, this notice and the consent mechanism will be updated before that tracking is enabled.

How long information is kept

Personal data is retained only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described above and for applicable legal, security and record-keeping requirements. General contact enquiries are normally kept for up to 12 months after the last substantive communication, unless a longer period is needed because a working relationship, contract, dispute or legal obligation follows. Newsletter subscriber data is kept while you remain subscribed. After you unsubscribe, limited suppression or opt-out information may be retained for as long as needed to ensure that your unsubscribe request continues to be respected. Technical hosting and security logs follow the retention schedules of the relevant service providers.

Your rights

Depending on the law that applies to you, you may have rights to request access to your personal data, correction, deletion, restriction or objection, and to withdraw consent at any time for future processing. You may also have the right to complain to a competent data-protection authority, including the Swiss Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner where applicable.

Changes to this notice

This notice may be updated when the website, service providers or legal requirements change. The date at the top shows the latest revision.
